Greenside Clinic, located just off Gleneagles Road, has announced a new initiative aimed at supporting the mental well-being of the area's vibrant young professional community. Starting next month, the clinic will host a series of free monthly workshops focusing on stress management, burnout prevention, and maintaining work-life balance, specifically designed to address the pressures faced by those in high-paced careers.
The workshops, facilitated by qualified therapists, will be held at the clinic's premises on Wednesday evenings to accommodate busy schedules. Topics for the initial sessions include 'Navigating Digital Overload' and 'Building Resilience in a Competitive Environment.' This initiative comes as Greenside, known for its bustling restaurants and cafe culture, increasingly attracts young professionals seeking a dynamic urban lifestyle, often accompanied by demanding professional lives.
Dr. Lerato Mdluli, a clinical psychologist at Greenside Clinic, emphasised the importance of accessible mental health resources. "We've observed a growing need within our Greenside community for proactive mental health support, particularly among young adults balancing career aspirations with personal well-being," Dr. Mdluli stated. "These workshops provide a safe, confidential space for residents to acquire practical tools and coping strategies tailored to their specific challenges. Our goal is to foster a more resilient and mentally healthy Greenside, ensuring our residents can thrive both professionally and personally."
Registration for the inaugural workshop on 15 May is now open, with limited spaces available to ensure an intimate and interactive environment. The clinic plans to expand the programme based on community feedback, potentially including sessions on mindfulness and managing anxiety. This proactive approach by Greenside Clinic aims to enhance the overall health landscape of the suburb, complementing the active outdoor lifestyle often enjoyed at nearby Emmarentia Dam and Greenside Park.
